"DO NOT HUMP" is a railroad term applied to railcars that are prohibited from being sent over the gravity hill, or "hump" of a hump yard. A hump yard is a switching yard where the force of gravity is used to roll cars down the hill / hump into sorting tracks. Cars are maked "DO NOT HUMP" due to size, fragility, age special equipment, and other factors.
