WP 707 has recently been released from maintenance work and is operating for the first time since 2017.  The 707 was built in October of 1952 at a cost of $170,992 by the Electro-Motive Division of General Motors.  It was built as part of the first order by the Western Pacific for non-streamlined road locomotives.  It is rated at 1,500 horsepower.  Its model type is GP7 (General Purpose locomotive type 7).

Much of its career until the late 1960s / early 1970s was working the mainline between Oakland and Salt Lake City.  With the arrival of more powerful locomotives, it began working local trains.  For much of the 1970s, the 707 was assigned to Portola and worked trains to Reno, Nevada.  It is painted in its 1960s orange and silver livery.
